REVIEW: Dominican Hair Products

Hello again.

So, a little while ago, I finally got around to going back to the Dominican Hair Salon that I used to go to about 2 years ago. My hair was really really healthy back then. So I figured I needed to get it back to that condition, because... about a year ago, I went crazy, and started trying to kill my hair. I mean... I went swimming and didn't wash my hair until hours later, I dyed it, then I did maad protein treatments on it, because I thought it would fix it...

No one told me though, that too much protein can cause your hair to break more. So thats what happened. So my hair broke off badly. I mean horribly. So this last time I went, my stylist suggested these products, because my hair was so dry...

And they are made in the Dominican Republic.
The ingredients... honestly, I didn't even look at them before I used the product. But, I'm kind of glad thats the case. From working at Sally's and reading online about black hair, I had kind of been programmed to stay away from certain ingredients-- you know, basically anything that is in regular drugstore shampoos, and shampoos marketed towards non-African American hair... sulfates, mineral oil, lanolin, alcohol, etc...
But as you can see, that makes up most of these products. But I was thinking about it, and back when my hair was super healthy, and thick and easy to manage, I was using plain old Pantene Brunette Expressions and Dove shampoo. When I started paying more, and being more selective about ingredients, my hair suffered horrrribly.

Same goes for relaxers... my hair didn't respond well to going natural. I might sound strange to say, but post relaxer, my hair was 10x healthier. Just goes to show different things work for different people...

But anyway. I used this stuff. The shampoo was straight, similar to baby shampoo really, but waaaay more moisturizing. And my hair stayed detangled, which was weird, because I usually have to work hard to keep tangles away when I wash my hair. The conditioner was also nice, really creamy, and it only took a tiny bit. I mean, quarter sized amount, and my hair felt so good.

BUT THE PRODUCT THAT I LOVED? The conditioning treatment! I put about a handful in, combed it through, put on a plastic cap and chilled for about 30 minutes... and WOW! I mean, my hair felt amazing. You know how you know something is working, before you're even done using it? This is how I felt about this, before I washed it out, my hair felt great, and after? It was soooo soft.

Craziest part, after I blowdried, I had barely any of those little tiny broken off hairs I have millions of... its like my breakage stopped completely. And believe me, I tried mistreating my hair, seeing if it was just temporary, but nope... its still going strong, still healthy. Still super shiny, and thick :)

COST: About 8-9 dollars each. I'm not sure where else you can get them... I got them from Perfect Hair Salon in Norcross.

Perfect Hair Salon (770) 840-9690 463 Beaver Ruin Rd Nw, Norcross, GA

And I'm definitely suggesting this for all types of hair, because Dominicans hair varies so much in type, from straight and thin, to coarse and curly.

Peace.

Now i'm so tempted to try this stuff, and the price is so reasonable! ( just need to find it on montreal)

I can't go back to being natural, i have SUPER tight ringlets/curls w`e..... it just makes life a little easier when i perm / relax my hair.

What is your hair type btw?
